WHAT a view!

This week's camera club theme was space, and we don't have enough of it here to praise all the beautiful, clever and imaginative ways our members have once again met the brief.

For a start, we certainly weren't expecting any photos actually taken from outer space, but Barry Gibbs and Donna Cassettari have both given us the next best thing – stunning portraits of planet Earth from a mile high.

Barry tells us that his shot shows 'the space between the sky and the North Italian Alps', while Donna's is simply titled 'Above the Clouds'.

Many of you sent in marvellous moon pics: special mention goes to Kevin Clark who compiled a month of moons and even threw in a glowing orange blood moon for good measure.

Kevin Clark raised the (space) bar with this astronomically good shot of the Milky Way over the sea at sunset.

In response to the Oxford Mail's very cheeky question as to whether the photo was a genuine, Mr Clark replied: "Yes it's real, it was taken at Durdle Door on the south coast.

"It's a stitch of about 8-10 pictures to cover 180 degrees (east on the left, west on the right), 16mm, F2.8, 30sec exposures.

"A little normal tweaking just to enhance the colours and brightness/ contrast a bit, but that's all."

Several spacey snappers met our brief by sending in pictures of space craft – of a sort.

Roger Smith sent in this photo of a passenger jet giving a piggie-back to a space shuttle which he said stopped off at Fairford on its way to the 1983 Farnborough Air Show.

Stephen Pimm, meanwhile, shared this picture he caught of one of Richard Branson's early ballooning adventures over in Garsington in the late 70s or early 80s.

And, of course, it wouldn't be camera club without a few jokers: Piers Burnell sent us this bizarre picture which helpfully explained was 'a selfie attempting a David Bowie Space Oddity pic of my reflection floating in a tin lamp shade high above Henley-on-Thames's Cau restaurant's decor'.

Michelle Barber, meanwhile, sent in this completely-genuine and in-no-way-fake shot of her meeting Neil Armstrong himself on the moon (or possibly Madame Tussauds, Florida).

Next week's theme is back down to earth with a bump, and it's a very predictable one for this time of year – autumn leaves (submissions of other autumnal plant matter will be considered).

Just a reminder – when you're sending in your photos, please give us just a few details about when you took them and what we're looking at!
